Neal Rose was almost 73 years old when he first contacted Justin and Stephanie Check to help him lose weight and get into better physical condition. “I knew I was overweight, had low energy level and was pretty unhappy with the way I looked in family photos. I met with Stephanie to discuss an exercise program designed to let me gradually improve my flexibility, balance and strength. At first we met for just two half hour sessions per week, which we increased to hour long sessions as time went on and my endurance improved. Call it “baby steps”, but it was a level of exercise that my body could handle without feeling worn out. I credit Stephanie for her patience and support as I came to enjoy the workouts and saw significant improvement in my ability to handle them. I also began a regular program of walking roughly 5 days per week, covering 3-4 miles daily and gradually increasing to 6-8 miles per day.

With my exercise program underway, the next step was to work on nutrition with Justin. Justin is very methodical in his approach to good nutrition. He analyzed my eating habits and current physical condition, and then we discussed what my goals were. Justin prepared a nutritional plan that I felt I could comply with, that did not leave me in a constant state of hunger or deprivation. I adapted to having 4 smaller meals each day with a reasonable caloric limit rather than 3 larger meals, and I just became more mindful of what I was ingesting.

I started losing 2-3 pounds per week and within 5 months I had lost 40 pounds! I went from 213 pounds down to 171. I lost 10 inches on my waist size, from 44” down to 34”. This has been life changing for me! Now one of my biggest challenges is finding pants that will stay up. My energy level has vastly improved and I wake up earlier after better sleep. Based upon my personal experience, I highly recommend both Justin and Stephanie for training and nutrition guidance.”

Say hello to Chelsey Scheiner, a FIT pregnant woman! “I started looking online for prenatal/maternity workout classes around town, but really couldn’t find anything! Then luckily I stumbled across Stephanie’s own pregnancy blog on her website, which is how I came to find out about Check Total Health. Our first personal training session was when I was 17 weeks pregnant, and I was hooked. Stephanie has been amazing to work with. First of all, the mobile personal training they offer is an incredible opportunity. It makes working out so convenient, there really isn’t an excuse to not do it. She was able to work around my sometimes crazy work schedule and we fit in about 2 sessions per week. Also, I had so much faith in her to train me during my pregnancy because she had just gone through the same thing about 5 months earlier. I trusted her to design the workouts to fit my ever-changing pregnancy body and energy level. Plus it was really fun to be able to share my first-time-mom-to-be journey with her, every week was a new and exciting milestone! Say hello to Tristan Chapman, an avid cyclist and former professional beach volleyball player. Tristan embarked on a 7 week mission to follow a Check Total Health meal plan and take Stephanie Check’s indoor cycling classes a few times each week. In addition, he lifted weights and cycled outside. In 7 weeks Tristan lost 26 pounds. While it’s true that Stephanie Check is a Personal Trainer in Southwest Florida and has been working out for many years, she still has to put in the effort to overcome weight gain such as when she gave birth to our daughter, Liv. The first picture is Steph just one week after giving birth and the second picture is Steph 8 weeks later (9 weeks after giving birth). Steph followed a Check Total Health meal plan and worked out 5-6 days a week once given the OK from the doctor. In the 8 week period she lost 5 pounds, 8% body fat and shifted her composition back to pre-pregnancy days!
